My favourite flower is the Auricula. The Hellebore is next in line. I love the colours and the mystery that comes with this flower. Some call it the Lenten Rose or the Christmas Rose. Not a Rose actually but from the buttercup family. It has over the years been shrouded in mystery and witchcraft. Much as I like the idea of witches making flying ointment and invisibility powder from the plant, I love that it can mean hope as well. It blooms from beneath the snows of Winter, flowering on dark winter days, reminding us all that Spring is on the way. Hope is very much what is needed at the moment and so I am very happy I have some Hellebores at home in our Winter garden reminding me that within, there is something stronger.
